8.0 inch capacitive touch panel

8 inch is the smallest panel we build, and it exists for handheld terminals and compact HMIs whose enclosure is already tooled. Below this size the FPC bonding margin eats most of the border, so we stop here.

  • 6 H glass, 10-point, USB / I2C / RS232 controller included

8.0 inch capacitive panel — controller included

Controller included. Every panel ships with a matched controller, flashed and tested against that panel — not a generic board.

8.0 inch capacitive panel — fpc tail

FPC tail. The tail can leave on any of the four sides, same-side or opposite-side contact, without changing the outline.

Dimensions

Three numbers, not one

Unlike an infrared frame, a capacitive panel is defined by three dimensions. The OD is the outside of the glass and is what your housing is cut to. The VA is the visible area your UI is designed against. The sensor is the ITO pattern inside the printed border.

Typical builds at this size: handheld terminal, compact hmi, portable instrument.

What happens after the carton is open

A capacitive panel needs no calibration — the sensor is bonded to the glass, so the coordinates are geometry rather than measurement. What it does need is the right settings for your glass stack, and a bonding process that does not trap air.

⚡

Plug and play over USB

Windows, Android, Linux and ChromeOS pick it up as a HID touch digitizer with nothing installed. I2C and RS232 versions available for boards without a USB host.

◎

Firmware tuned to your stack

Threshold, report rate, edge suppression and ESD level are set for the cover glass you specify — then shipped as a settings file you can clone across a batch.

⌗

Bonding and install guidance

OCA versus tape versus air gap, FPC bend radius, shield grounding under 4 Ω. We will join the first bonding run by video if it is your first one.

FAQ

8.0 inch panel questions

What are the OD, VA and sensor sizes of the 8.0 inch panel?
OD 188 × 124 mm, VA (active area) 172 × 108 mm, sensor 180 × 116 mm. Your housing is cut to the OD, your UI is laid out to the VA, and the printed border sits between them. If your housing already exists, send the cut-out and we will check the fit before you order.
Can I change the cover glass thickness?
Yes — 1.1 mm is standard for this size; 1.8 mm and 2.0 mm are available at roughly 6 % and 12 % extra. Above 2 mm we need to confirm the controller can drive through the stack, which we do with a sensitivity test on the first unit.
Is a controller and cable included?
Yes. Every panel ships with a matched controller board, a 1.8 m USB cable and the FPC tail you specified. I2C and RS232 versions are available at the same price; tell us which at the drawing stage.
What is the lead time?
5–7 working days for stock configuration, 10–14 days with a custom printed border or coating.
Is this a capacitive touch screen or only a panel?
It is the panel: cover glass, sensor, FPC tail and a matched controller, with no LCD. Bond your display behind it and the assembly becomes a capacitive touch screen. If you want us to do the bonding, that is the module line rather than this page.

Panel, screen or TP — one stack-up, three labels

Three labels cover the same object: capacitive touch panel, capacitive touch screen and capacitive touch TP. TP is shorthand for touch panel, and it survives in Chinese-authored drawings and in BOMs that were copied from one. All three mean cover glass, ITO sensor, FPC tail and a matched controller — no LCD, no housing, no software.
