Most quotations take two or three emails because one piece of information is missing. Here is what our engineers actually need to price a touch component in one pass.
1. Size, in a form we can use
Diagonal in inches for a standard part; active area or outer dimension in millimetres for a custom one. A photo of the housing with a tape measure in frame is genuinely acceptable.
2. Quantity, at the stage you are actually at
"1 sample now, 500 per month from Q3" is more useful than "large". The two numbers are priced differently and the second one tells us whether tooling costs matter.
3. The interface your board outputs
USB, I2C or RS232. Also tell us the operating system — Android and Windows handle multi-touch reports differently, and the controller firmware differs.
4. The environment
Indoor, outdoor, wet, gloved, high ambient light, vibration. Each one changes the recommended part, and three of them change the price.
5. Glass thickness, if you have already chosen it
If you have not, say so — we will recommend one based on use. Thicker glass above 5 mm changes the frame design for infrared, and above 2 mm changes the controller for capacitive.
6. The FPC exit direction
Where the cable leaves the panel and where the controller will live. This is free to specify now and expensive to change after tooling.
7. Your drawing, if one exists
PDF, DWG, STEP or DXF. A sketch on paper photographed with a phone is fine as a starting point; we will redraw it and send it back for approval.
8. Destination and Incoterm
FOB Shenzhen is our default. If you need CIF, DDP or a specific forwarder, tell us with the enquiry rather than after the invoice — freight changes the landed cost by more than the unit price difference between suppliers.
What you get back
Within 12 working hours: a matched part number or a proposed drawing, a price at your quantity, a lead time, and a note on anything in the request that will not work. If we cannot build it, we say so in the same email.
Tell us the size. We will tell you what fits.
Send a drawing, a size, or just a photo of the screen you are building around. Our engineers reply with a matched part and a price within 12 working hours.
